The Story Behind Dwelling on Homes
I have a confession:
I'm completely obsessed with homes.
Not just buying them. Not just selling them. Homes themselves.
I can spend hours talking about renovation projects, organization systems, architecture, neighborhood design, floor plans, furniture layouts, construction details, creative uses of space, or why one house feels completely different from another—even when they're nearly identical on paper.
I've always been fascinated by the way people live.
In 2016, I started working in real estate alongside my dad. Over the years, we built a successful business together, and in the process I learned far more than how to navigate a transaction. I learned about construction projects, investments, maintenance, budgeting, negotiations, problem-solving, and what it takes to serve people well through major life decisions.
But somewhere along the way, I noticed something. The conversations I enjoyed most weren't always about real estate, they were about life.
They were about the family wondering whether they needed more space or simply different space.
The couple debating whether a dream home was actually aligned with the life they wanted to build.
The homeowner who couldn't figure out why their house no longer felt right, despite nothing being technically wrong with it.
The people asking questions that couldn't be answered by market data alone.
I've walked through hundreds of homes over the years, and one thing has become increasingly clear:
A home is never just a house.
It's where our habits live. It's where our relationships unfold. It's where we recover, celebrate, dream, work, gather, create, and become.
And because of that, the decisions we make about home are rarely just practical decisions. They're life decisions.
That's what led me here.
Dwelling on Homes is where I get to explore all of the questions I can't stop thinking about—the practical ones, the philosophical ones, and everything in between.
Sometimes we'll talk about real estate. Sometimes we'll talk about design. Sometimes we'll talk about life transitions, decision-making, or the surprising ways our homes influence who we're becoming.
Mostly, though, we'll talk about home the way I think it deserves to be talked about: not as a status symbol or a checklist of features, but as one of the most important environments we create for ourselves.
Because while I love houses, what I'm really interested in is how people live inside them.
Why I Share This ..
There's a saying I've always loved: a rising tide lifts all boats.
Whether we're talking about homes, business, creativity, relationships, or life in general, I've found that some of the best things happen when people share what they've learned, ask better questions, and invite others into the conversation.
That's really what this space is for.
I'm not here because I have all the answers. I'm here because I've spent years paying attention—to homes, to people, to the decisions they make, and to the stories behind them. Along the way, I've collected observations, lessons, mistakes, ideas, and perspectives that continue to shape how I think about the world.
This is my place to share them.
If something I write helps you see your situation more clearly, ask a better question, make a more aligned decision, or simply feel a little less alone in the process, then this project has done exactly what I hoped it would.
And if it sparks a meaningful conversation somewhere along the way, even better.
